Is USS Kearsarge a valid name for an American SSBN?
Well, it violates all conventions, although that's never stopped anyone since, oh, 1944. I suppose it could be argued that it's an honorary state for ship-naming purposes, and I'd be fine accepting that argument, as it's still US law.
More importantly, it's assigned to LHD-3.
Ahh, but LHD-3 is a United States Ship, so there's no conflict with a United States Submarine! XD
